The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) maintains the OSBI Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program. This program compiles crime statistics of all counties in the state based on monthly arrest and crime reports provided by sheriffs’ offices and police departments in the state. In 2018, McCurtain County had a total number of 1,119 crimes reported‬. This includes 112 violent crimes and 1,007 property crimes. The violent crimes include four murders, 25 rapes, four robberies, and 79 aggravated assaults. The property crimes include 267 burglaries, 626 larcenies, 93 motor vehicle thefts, and 21 arsons.

The crime figures represent a slight decline in total crimes but more increase in specific crimes in the county in five years. Between 2014 and 2018, there was an increase in six out of the eight major crimes reported. Murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, motor vehicle theft, and arson rates increased by 400%, 317%, 100%, 34%, 69%, and 75% respectively. Burglary and larceny rates increased by 27% and 11% respectively.
