Criminal Statistics

According to data provided by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Comanche County Sheriff's office and various police departments received 4,658 reports of index crime offenses in 2018, putting the county's crime rate per 1000 at 38.64. As per the report, the total crime index declined by 5.8% compared to 2017 data, with the most significant changes recorded in reports of violent crime.

Larceny-theft which was recorded to be the most reported of all criminal acts declined by 7.4% to 2,268 reported incidents in the year, while breaking and entering plummeted nearly 12% to 1,154 reported incidents. Third most reported crime and number one among violent crimes, felonious assault grew, while murder and motor vehicle theft held somewhat steady with 7 and 355 reported incidents respectively, which was markedly similar to the 8 and 357 reports for the previous year. Additionally, reported incidents of rape and robbery also declined slightly to 102 and 123 offenses respectively while reports of arson increased dramatically from 8 incidents in 2017 to 27 in 2018.

Criminal Records

As the central repository of statewide criminal history information, the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation is tasked with processing requests for criminal records and criminal background checks. However, this service is also provided by the Comanche County Court Clerk's Office which is the primary custodian of criminal records for the county. Notwithstanding, the Comanche County Sheriff's Office is the main law enforcement of the county, and the originator of most crime-related data, records, and reports.

How to get Criminal Records

Comanche County residents may request criminal records from the Court Clerk's office in person or via mail. The records available through this office include all misdemeanor and felony arrest information as well as details of in-county dispositions and conviction history. Both in-person and mail-in criminal record requests require the requesting party to prepare a letter stating the full name of the subject, their date of birth and social security number. The letter should be submitted along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope (for mail requests) and a fee of $10 to the Criminal Division of the Clerk's office at:

How to find Sex Offender Information

Information regarding the sex offenders in Comanche County may be obtained from the Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Map. The map features details of each offender's home address, physical identifiers, vehicle description as well as information regarding their arrest history, past convictions and employment and compliance status. Interested county residents may view the map by location or search the Oklahoma Sex & Violent Offender Registry by name or address radius for details of offenders within a specific vicinity. The Oklahoma Email Notification System may also be used to register for email alerts regarding sex offenders in selected neighborhoods or specific locations within the county.

Where and How to Get Inmate Information

Personal data of current inmates are published on the Inmate Search Portal which features details of each detainee's primary charges, bail or bond conditions and booking information. Inmates can be searched by name, booking date or date of birth.

How to Find Jail Information

Comanche County inmate and jail information are managed and disseminated by the staff of the facility, and may be obtained from the Detention Center online page. The page can be searched for details regarding the facility location, detainee welfare, commissary, mail as well as visitation rules and schedule and relevant information relating to inmate property while they are incarcerated.

The Comanche County Court Clerk's office is responsible for maintaining records of court cases heard by the county courts. As per state laws, these records are accessible to members of the public upon request, provided the records are non-confidential.

To obtain a court record, interested persons may query the Clerk's office in person or via mail and alternatively, use the State Court Docket Tool to access a record. All record requests require that the requestor provide details of the case including the case file number, the names of the parties involved and the litigant, as well as the date the case was originally filed.

Where and How to Get Property Records

The Comanche County Clerk is the chief recorder of the county and is charged with recording and maintaining documents relating to land and real properties within county limits. The office compiles, retains, and issues copies of plats, deeds, liens, mortgage agreements and land documents. Vital Records

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is the state's primary custodian of vital records and as such processes statewide requests for copies of birth and death records. All other Comanche county vital records can be obtained at the county level. The County Court Clerk's office is charged with maintaining and disseminating marriage and divorce records. However, all records of births and deaths that occur within county limits can be obtained from the State Department of Health.

Where and How to Get Divorce Records

The Comanche Court Clerk's office handles the management and dissemination of records of divorces which were granted by the county courts.

To obtain a divorce decree, interested persons may send a written request to the Court Clerks office indicating the names of both parties, the case number of the record (if known), and the date of divorce.

Where and How to Get Marriage Records

Comanche marriage licenses are issued by the County Court Clerk which also retains records of marriages licensed by its office. Copies of these records can be obtained from the Small Claims Division of the office. The requesting party will be required to provide information regarding the marriage including the names of the spouses, the place and date of the marriage and the marriage certificate number (if known). Where and How to get Birth and Death Records

Requests for Comanche county birth and death records are processed by the Vital Records Unit of the state department of health. As per state laws, birth and death certificates are not public records, and as such, can only be issued to persons who meet the birth certificate eligibility requirements or death certificate eligibility requirements. Interested and eligible persons may obtain these records by requesting them in person or via mail.

The requestor must download the Birth Certificate Request Form or the Death Certificate Request Form, which must be filled legibly and notarized as required. Record seekers may either opt to use these tools to search for a specific record or multiple records.
