Oklahoma City Crime Statistics

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) collates crime and arrest reports for Oklahoma City and other state areas. It compiles these reports into Annual Uniform Crime Reports, which it makes available on its Crime Statistics Page. In its 2019 report, the OSBI reported 4,751 violent crimes and 26,918 property crimes in Oklahoma City. Larceny-theft, with 16,922 reports, was the most recurrent crime that year. Burglary, with 6,206 accounts, followed larceny-theft and was reported more than aggravated assaults, which had 3,987 incidents.

In contrast to the previous year’s report, Oklahoma City experienced fewer violent crimes in 2019. Compared to 2018, there were 18.6% fewer aggravated assault cases and 18% fewer robbery cases. Conversely, property crimes increased over the year. Larceny-theft was higher by 1.5%, while burglaries rose by 3.4%.

How Do I Visit an Inmate in Oklahoma County Jail?

Individuals convicted for crimes in Oklahoma City serve time in the Oklahoma County Jail. The jail permits inmate’s family and friends to visit them according to the following schedule:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: Call to schedule

Wednesday: 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m and 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m and 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

A prospective visitor must be on an inmate’s list, and inmates may have a total of five listed visitors at a time. All visitors must call ahead, forty-eight hours before arriving at the facility. Inmates may have one fifteen-minute visit per week, with a maximum of two visitors at each visit. All visitors must present a valid ID and are subject to a search before entry. Minors may only visit inmates in the company of parents or legal guardians and must submit a birth certificate before gaining access to the facility.

All visitors must arrive at the facility fifteen minutes before the scheduled time, dressed neatly and conservatively. Clothing must be opaque and must not bear lewd or violent markings. Visitors who are disruptive face eviction and suspension of visiting privileges.
